Nerd Nite 28 is Wednesday, July 22 from 6-8:30 p.m.

July’s Presentations include:

  • Historical Women’s Underwear with Megan McDonald
  • The Lumiere Brothers: Businessmen, Inventors, AND Artists with Zoe Acord
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation with Andrea Howy from Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research

More about the topics:

  • Historical Women’s Underwear with Megan McDonald: Modern fashion is objectively terrible, especially when compared to the way humans used to dress. But of all the crimes against comfort and practicality that modern fashion has committed none is more egregious than that of… ladies’ underwear. We’ll take a closer look at the way our base layers have changed through history and prove why today’s undergarments SUCK.
  • The Lumiere Brothers: Businessmen, Inventors, AND Artists with Zoe Acord: A talk/rant about the Lumiere brothers, who made huge advancements in inventions in photography and film (specifically the autochrome and cinematograph) in the late 19th century into the early 20th century. The Lumiere brothers were both inventors and artists (although many people at the time viewed them as businessmen first).
  • Wildlife Rehabilitation with Andrea Howy from Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research: With 50 years of experience, Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research is one of the premier wildlife rehabilitation centers in the United States. Operating under federal and state permits, the staff and volunteers in their Wild Bird Clinic provide expert medical care, housing, and diets to injured and orphaned native wild birds. In this talk, you’ll hear from Andrea, the clinic director at Tri-State, about the great work they do.
  • Tickets are $12 for non-members, and $8 for DelMNS and Wilmington Brew Works members. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Delaware Museum of Nature & Science website. All ticket proceeds benefit the museum, helping the museum achieve their mission of inspiring a passion for science learning.
  • Advanced ticket sales stop at 4:00 p.m. on the day of the event (but you can purchase tickets at the door – card only, no cash).
  • There is free parking on site and the 025 bus stops right out front of Wilmington Brew Works.
  • Wilmington Brew Works is located at 3129 Miller Rd, Wilmington, DE 19802.
