About this month’s talks:

Talkin’ Trash with Bryn Kolmansberger and Amanda Menaison of DSWA

Ever wonder what happens to trash and recycling? DSWA is here to land(fill) you in. From residential trash and recycling to household hazardous waste and electronics. We can answer all of your waste questions! Bryn and Amanda have worked at Delaware Solid Waste Authority for two years as Community Outreach Coordinators. In this role, they are tasked with visiting schools, libraries, and community events throughout Delaware to inform the public about recycling practices within the state. They are always willing to talk trash and recycling so feel free to ask them any questions you may have.

Out of Pockets… with Megan McDonald

Pockets are awesome! If you find a cool rock on the ground, just plop it in your pocket and you can keep your hands free while carrying around a precious treasure. But have you ever stopped and wondered… why pockets are the way they are? Why are they so small, especially women’s pants pockets? And what the hell is up with FAKE POCKETS?! Take a look at pockets through history and become increasingly annoyed as our pockets get smaller and smaller until we are finally… out of pockets. Before achieving a B.A. in Theatre and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education, Megan McDonald volunteered and worked in museums where she fostered her love of history and weird, seemingly trivial, facts. She now works as the Nature Nook Lead at the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science.
