Hark! Heralding the Muppet Christmas Carol

Patrick Wittwer, Visitor Experience Manager at Edelman Fossil Park & Museum and Nerd Nite boss

It doesn’t take a Film & Media Arts degree to see that the 1992 classic The Muppet Christmas Carol is the greatest film ever made, but Pat has one so trust him on this. In this talk, Pat offers reasons why this holiday masterpiece is the single greatest accomplishment in film history while also holding it up against some other so-called cinema classics.

Carl Akeley: the taxidermist who’s way cooler than you

Wendi Stadter, Museum Educator and taxidermy maintenance worker at DelMNS

A quick low down on the most influential taxidermist of all time. We will examine how he killed a leopard with his bare hands, invented the first compact film camera, helped found the first mountain gorilla preserve after changing the public’s view of the gorilla, and revolutionized how museums display their specimens. Basically he’s the coolest guy you’ve never heard of. Wendi is passionate about her work with mounted specimens and educating the public about our animal friends.
